What is an Atheist? A person who disbelieves or lacks belief in the existence of God or gods.
What is an Agnostic? A person who believes that nothing is known or can be known of the existence or nature of God or of anything beyond material phenomena.
Can I be both Agnostic and Atheist? Absolutely. Atheism is a lack of belief in a god, but there's no certainty carried with it. One can be an agnostic atheist; that is they don't believe in a god, but they contend there is no way to know one way or the other with certainty.
What is a Skeptic? A person inclined to question or doubt all accepted opinions
What is a Free-thinker? A person who rejects accepted opinions, especially those concerning religious belief.
What is Secularism? A belief system that rejects religion, or the belief that religion should not be part of the affairs of the state or part of public education. The principles of separation of church and state and of keeping religion out of the public school system are an example of secularism.
What is Humanism? An outlook or system of thought attaching prime importance to human rather than divine or supernatural matters. Humanist beliefs stress the potential value and goodness of human beings, emphasize common human needs, and seek solely rational ways of solving human problems.
Am I alone in my disbelief? Not at all. The Pew Religious Landscape survey reported that as of 2014, 22.8% of the U.S. population is religiously unaffiliated, atheists made up 3.1% and agnostics made up 4% of the U.S. population. The 2014 General Social Survey reported that 21% of American had no religion with 3% being atheist and 5% being agnostic.
Are there other Secular Organizations like this one? Yes. There are both large and small secular organizations throughout the United States and all over the world. Some of the larger ones include the American Humanist Association, American Atheists, and the Freedom From Religion Foundation. Smaller, less well known organizations include Recovering From Religion, the Center for Inquiry, and the Secular Student Alliance.
Are there Secular Communities? Yes there are. As the broader atheist community becomes larger and better organized, secularists and freethinkers have shown increasing interest in gathering together with like-minded individuals. The most prominent secular communities include The Sunday Assembly and The Oasis Network, which seek to provide a positive secular alternative to faith-based community. There are also various secular Meetups that you might be able to find near you.
Can I talk to other Secular Latinos through this organization? Definitely. We have a Facebook group dedicated to having open discussion among Secular Latinos and non-Latino Supporters. The group is closed, so there's no worry about Facebook friends seeing what you're talking about.
